D BS Law teamed up with the Midlands Air Ambulance to launch November Road Safety Week campaign at Biffa Waste Management in Dudley.

DBS Law’s Head of Personal Injury Angela Fitzpatrick presented some grisly facts on road casualties caused by excessive speed on the regions roads, to over 100 of Biffa’s professional drivers.

The aim of the one day workshop was to raise awareness of the dangers of excessive speed and to recruit the drivers as campaigners for the road safety message to help reduce the 2,000 casualties and 200 deaths that occur on the West Midlands roads every year.

Angela Fitzpatrick said, “We need these drivers to spread the message that road collisions are not accidents, they are manmade and preventable events that destroy lives. We can all make a difference and create safer communities by passing on the facts about how speed can kill and driver distractions like mobile phones kill even more.”

The Midlands Air Ambulance reinforced the message with their experiences of dealing first hand with the carnage of a high speed road crashes.

DBS law sponsor the MAA and the road safety charity Brake, they will be working closely with both to engage companies like Biffa during Road Safety Week 19th -25th Nov.

Biffa managers took the initiative early and ask DBS to come in advance of Road Safety Week.

Biffa Depot Manager in Dudley, Peter Giddings said, “We were delighted to welcome members of the DBS Law Road Safety and Midlands Air Ambulance teams to speak to our drivers and depot staff. Biffa takes all aspects of Health and Safety very seriously and the contribution that DBS Law made to the day was a great success and appreciated by all our staff. The work that they do in the community is a testament to their commitment to raising awareness of road safety for all aspects of society.”
