ROMEO_WATERPROOF_HENRI-VERHOEF-11ROMEO has been announced as the proud sponsor of Amsterdam Waterproof, the LGBT water polo team representing the Netherlands in August at the Gay Games in Paris. For this special event, ROMEO, the gay dating platform, has launched a special website which can be viewed here. Esteemed Dutch photographer Henri Verhoef, sets the tone with a glossy photo spread of the Waterproof water jocks. Get your feet wet at Romeo-Waterproof and follow the team and their adventures, with photos and videos, player bios, and weekly news updates.

Founded in 1995, the Waterproof water polo team currently has more than 60 LGBT players, consisting of trainers, new and seasoned players, men and women, ranging in age from 20 to 50+ years. As part of the Dutch Cultural Sports Federation (Nederlandse Culturele Sportbond), Waterproof competes locally as well as in other international tournaments as part of the IGLA Champagne Water Polo League, Gay Games, Euro Games and World OutGames. Waterproof is ranked among the top 3 water polo teams in Europe. “We’re excited to have ROMEO as a partner for this event,” says Paul Westgeest, Chairman of Amsterdam Waterproof. “Thanks to the gear they’ve provided, we’ll stand out in the crowd when we show up in true gay fashion and style”.

In the run up to the games you can get to know the team on ROMEO, and read all about what it takes to prepare for the games. The Waterproof players will also give a first hand account of their escapades throughout the Gay Games, which will be featured on the Romeo-Waterproof website, and ROMEO Blog. It’s guaranteed to be a splash you don’t want to miss!

This year, the Gay Games celebrates its 10th edition. Since it began in 1982, the Gay Games have been a celebration of diversity and inclusion of LGBT teams and individuals in sports – concepts that ROMEO holds dear.
